Harold Schmitz, Ph.D., received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from St. John's University and his Ph.D. in Psychology from Fordham University. Dr. Schmitz is a psychologist who specializes in forensic psychology, behavioral risk evaluation, crisis and stress evaluation, and critical incident stress debriefing. In his professional practice of more than 30 years, Dr. Schmitz has brought his expertise to many sensitive and demanding issues in his work with individuals traumatized by crime, domestic and workplace discrimination, and industrial accidents. He provides psychological consultation services to Fortune 500 companies and has worked extensively with prisons, police and attorneys.
Dr. Schmitz was a Director of Federal Training Programs for the New York State Department of Correctional Services, and managed educational programs for inner city, at risk youth, in New York City. He provided crisis debriefing at Ground Zero with individuals and emergency responders traumatized by September 11.
Dr. Schmitz has been on the faculty of the City University of New York, Fordham University and Marist College (where he was also the Director of Testing and Counseling Services). He was Chair of psychological screening seminars at the University of Minnesota and a Director of National Institute for Mental Health research programs, as well as Director of Psychological Services for Con Edison.
Dr. Schmitz is a member of the American College of Forensic Psychology, the American Psychological Association, and the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.
